death
I was taught that when someone dies, the living should respectfully mourn that person. We don't have to have liked him or her in their lifetime but they deserve a certain amount of respect in death. (i'm not saying shed a bucket of tears, but if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all)
While driving back from canberra with the radio on, we heard that there were reports of Osama bin laden's death. The announcer went on to report that people were already sending in memorials. He then went on to announce that members of a band had sent in a memorial to bin laden's death and he was going to play it. The "memorial" was a tape of band members laughing hardily.
I was appauled. not that i ever had any love for osama, but laughing at his death seems wrong. I do not ascribe to his beliefs or the way that he implemented them. I do believe that NO ONE should be laughed over in death. Life is hard, no matter where you live, no matter what you do for a living. At death, everyone is equally dead so do not laugh at what you are to become, it may come sooner than you wish.
